Plan a course of action to lead you to the administrative assistant job that you want. Your first step in your job search is to prepare a resume. Be sure to add any software that you know, whether you are expert with it or just have a basic knowledge. You should list any training or certification that you have received, as well as all past jobs, even those that are not administrative type jobs. Your resume should be perfect in spelling, punctuation, and grammar, so have someone you trust look at it.
Gather letters of recommendation from previous bosses, instructors, or from people who know you well and can give a character reference for you.
Brush up on your computer skills, review any instructions you have for working office machines such as faxes, shipping machines, etc.
Apply at temporary staffing agencies or any online job postings you can find.
If you have taken business courses, check with the school's placement office and ask any instructors about possible job openings.
You might be required to take a typing or other type of test, so be ready.
